Wild Life @ Norwich Playhouse

Go see it.

Wild Life @ Norwich Playhouse

Wild Life is a collaboration between Pol Heyvaert of Belgian art centre CAMPO, Kim Noble and young, local talent. That talent is ten songwriters ranging in age from the mid-teens to early twenties. Growing from and based on the lives of the cast, Wild Life does not tell a story so much as perfectly encapsulate the confusion, self-doubt and emotional turmoil that I remember from my youth and young adulthood.

With clever use of pre-recorded material together with live dialogue and some great songs, the subject matter is sometimes uncomfortable but is handled with a deftness and candour that belies the age and amateur status of the cast. I can’t say that all ten will go on to be stars or will stick with music and performing. Based on this performance, it will be a crying shame if at least one of them doesn’t achieve some success as an entertainer.

Wild Life runs until 29th May. Go see it. Go see the possible stars of tomorrow, today. Go on, you won’t be disappointed.
