Reasonable show from a promising band that needs a longer set.

Tigercub is a trio of Jameses, with Jamie on guitar/vocals, James on drums and Jamie on bass. Other than bassist James' uncanny similarity to Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s Peter Gill, this is currently the most interesting thing about the band. Things start promisingly, sounding like a grungey Black Mountain but after two songs this almost descends to the level of Nirvana tribute. Still, songs like 'Little Rope' show promise and Tigercub may be contenders if they can find their own identity. (5/10)

After the seemingly never ending wave of bass-free vocals/guitars/drums duos and trios, along come Royal Blood, a guitar-free singing bassist Mike Keer and drummer Ben Thatcher. Despite the lack of guitar, the music comes across like Motorhead. Mike’s vocals are classic rock in style, bearing a resemblance to the lower part of Robert Plant’s range. The songs are generally strong, with singles 'Out of the Black' and 'Little Monsters' being the best in the set. Unfortunately, though, the set is too short and the band seriously needed a longer set list before setting out on a national tour as headliners. (7/10)
