The Ting Tings – Sounds From Nowheresville (Columbia [Sony Music Entertainment]) Katie White and Jules De Martino make a return with ‘Sounds From Nowheresville’ after really starting something back in 2008 going on to keep fans toes tapping and hips swinging for two years with tracks varying in style from their début album ‘We Started Nothing’. After two years of touring and festival hopping off the back of an award winning album, being the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for ‘Best Album’ in 2009, The Ting Tings duo went on to spend another year getting tracks down for a follow up album that could stand up equally to the greatness and popularity of their smashing breaking through. The duo recorded in Berlin for a brief spell although they subsequently went on to ditch an entire batch of songs that they weren’t happy with, relocating to southern Spain and throwing out the rule book creating music that made them happy. If you’re a Ting Tings fan ‘Sounds From Nowheresville’ will certainly make you just as happy as Katie and Jules with a persistently techno theme running through the ten track follow up that also throws out a few tweaks and variation in style with every track; ballad-like power chords, hip-hop, punk and indie to name a few styles represented.
