Mengelmoes

Jazz

Translating as “mish-mash from Flemish”, Mengelmoes (Men-ghel-moose) are a multi-genre band comprised of four Norwich 6th formers. The name ‘Mengelmoes’ originates from the Mengelmoes Cafe in Belgium, where the band played their first public gig. The band are releasing their debut EP ‘The Arendonk Re-Demos’ in early November to all major streaming services, with an EP launch party at the B2 on November the 10th, where fellow BBC Introducing artists ‘St.Benedicts’ and ‘Aphra’ will be supporting them. Over the last year, Mengelmoes have had track of the week on Radio Norfolk, performed for BBC Introducing at the Lord Mayors Procession, been to both Italy and Belgium (where they were on Belgian Radio) and sold out the venue at their January B2 gig. They have also gigged throughout various local venues and festivals, including Norwich Arts Centre as part of Sonic Youths. The band are releasing there song ‘The Wizard of York Street’ as the lead single to their EP, with a music video concerned with the escapades of Merlin the runaway cat (which the song is written about), which features some notable city locations. With an upcoming interview on BBC Radio Norfolk, the band are very excited releasing the EP and hope to do Norwich proud, and bring something new to its music scene through their unique blend of Jazz, Funk, Indie and Alternative sounds with a large serving of energetic and unhinged banter.
