In a world which can often seem too dark, music can be our source of light to guide us to better days.
This Thursday, local melodic musician, Cam T, will be releasing his new single, ‘Heal’, providing us with a handful of hope to make us realise that brighter days are on the horizon, and it’s ‘okay to not be okay’!
I recently caught up with Cam T to discover where his love for music came from, the inspiration behind his new single, as well as his dreams for 2024!
When did your journey as a musician begin?
I was surrounded with good music from a very young age. My dad was watching a live performance of Bruce Springsteen in our living room, I knew then what I wanted to do.
How would you describe your music?
Melodic.
Describe your creative process ?
Intense!
What messages do you aim to leave your listeners with, through your music?
It’s okay to not be okay and it’s okay to not have everything in your life figured out, life is a constant learning process.
What motivates you to create music?
It’s a complicated process. I usually have to feel rubbish to feel inspired to write a song. Relationships and situationships are definitely to blame for this.
How are you feeling ahead of the release of 'Heal' (and what was the inspiration behind this song)?
Apprehensive. Putting something you created and are passionate about into the world is quite a scary thing. Heal is about a breakup and how the words of love from a mother and father can help you find the strength to move on and get better.
What is your favourite thing about the local music scene of Norwich?
There are some really talented musicians.
What power does music hold in our society?
The power to relate.
What advice would you give to any aspiring musicians?
Go for it!
Have you got any plans for 2024?
I would love to be signed to a label that will excel me as an artist and my music.
