Norwich DJ collective centring Afrobeat, Latin and Global Grooves.
Projection One is a DJ collective from Norwich consisting of three friends who connected over their passion for Afrobeat, Latin and Global Grooves. In the aftermath of their friends and previous collaborators Wayward Natives leaving for Bristol and missing the vibes of those nights, Projection One was formed in late 2018 to fill the vacuum in Norwich’s scene.
After playing across Norwich and cutting their teeth, they found a home at the Rumsey Wells Underbelly and built a reputation for putting on popular nights showcasing their favourite records from around the world, focusing on Afrobeat, Highlife, Cumbia, Latin, Funk and house party floor fillers.
They’re interested in bringing people together through a shared love of upbeat tropical music that makes you move.
Jordan Smart
Jordan from Mammal Hands (sax), Sunda Arc (reeds, flute, electronics) and Vega Trails (bass clarinet, sax) brings selections from his record collection, music from an eclectic mix of countries and genres that he finds inspiration in.
Wayward Natives
“Born out of a passion for vinyl and 60’s and 70’s tropical sounds, Wayward Natives having been drenching dancefloors all over with audio sunshine for nearly a decade. The boys are back in town for one of their rare migrations back to the flat lands and couldn’t be more jazzed to be joining us. With selections always aimed squarely at the dancefloor, expect carnage (and possibly too many spinbacks).”

Roots Renegade have been running sound systems events in Norwich since 2007... specialising in all things reggae, roots, dub, dancehall and digi! Renegade are especially known for their deep dubplate boxes and killa specials! now in the hands of Joss, Joe, Matty and Tom the sound system has evolved into a record label too, releasing tracks with established and up and coming artists, musicians and producers all over the world.
