Bowling for Soup @ UEA
Everything that pop/punk/rock should be
On the 8th of February American pop punk band, Bowling For Soup, played the Norwich LCR on their run of touring the UK. The announcement of their How About Another Round tour came as a surprise to many fans as three years previously the band made a statement that they would never be returning to the UK.
With the disbelief that Bowling For Soup was once again returning it caused the crowd to make the most of every single second that night. MC Lars opened the show and had the all important job of hyping up the crowd in between the support acts. However, with his dire rap lyrics and his awkward freestyle the crowd seemed less than impressed and the more annoying he became.
After two strong performances from Lacey and The Dollyrots receiving massive applause, it seemed the crowd were more than ready for Bowling For Soup. With one last performance from MC Lars, I wasn't so sure if the screams and cheers were because we would never have to watch MC Lars again or because Bowling For Soup were now on!
On their previous tour Bowling For Soup had a minimal stage set up with few props; this time was different, with the stage being set up as a bar, Ye Olde Soup Inn. The crowd was raring to go with cheers and chants throughout their first few songs. The flow of the show added to the already entertaining characters of the band; with their sex, food and weight innuendos it's extremely clear you are at a Bowling For Soup show.
The night was incredible and I don't think I've ever seen a crowd in Norwich go as crazy as they did. Bowling For Soup is everything that pop/punk/rock should be.
