Lower Than Atlantis - The Black Edition

I've always had a lot of respect for Lower Than Atlantis. As a band they pursue every angle they can and experiment with many different sounds making the idea of new music by them unbelievably exciting, as you really don't know what to expect.

Their upcoming album, Lower Than Atlantis - The Black Edition features the entirety of their previous 2014 self-titled album but with additions of two new songs, three cover 'bonus' songs, four studio covers and two BBC live lounge covers making a total of 27 tracks on one album. I've never been very keen on the idea of a band recycling their previous album to make another edition, as it feels slightly pointless to purchase an album you already have and this collection didn't live up to the expectations I was hoping for. Get Over It is the first brand new track we hear on the album and honestly I really couldn't tell, it has the gritty and edgy sound which Lower Than Atlantis overused in their previous album which actually gets pretty boring after listening to it for an hour. It's a different story when you eventually hear the covers; it's undeniable that LTA have left their mark on each one and it did restore my faith in them.

I do admire Lower Than Atlantis for attempting to promote the old album, but overall I think the Radio 1 Live Lounge tracks and the all too similar new tracks just seems to detract the value of the original. Despite that, the original half of the album is still awesome and creative.
